Drafted during the first Assembly of the Viatorian Community in 2006, and adopted ad experimentum Through the 28th General Chapter of the Clerics of Saint Viator, this Charter constitutes the reference document for all its members. It defines the profound identity and fundamental characteristics of this community that brings the Viatorian charism to life, while guiding each Viator in his unique mission in service of the People of God.
These essential characteristics represent the spiritual gift that God bestows upon the community. This unique charism is expressed in two complementary forms within the same family:
This duality offers an exceptional opportunity to carry out the mission and fraternal communion through a great diversity of profiles: men and women, laypeople, religious, and priests. The Viatorian Community thus unites Religious and Associates in a harmony inspired by the spirit of the Venerable Louis Querbes, without confusion, but in a close union, like the two sides of the same coin, each possessing its own beauty.
The Viatorian Community has the privilege of illustrating, through the complementarity of vocations, the diversity of states of life within the universal Church, acting as a true “model” of it. It is paramount for Viatorians to maintain an acute awareness of this common identity, where each vocation (religious or secular) is fully lived, respected, and encouraged. The Charter serves as a living memory, endlessly reminding members of their identity and the end of their union.
